Shop Direct Event Pulse
Shop Direct are the UK’s leading multi channel digital retailer and their ambition was to harness HGA’s digital events offering to enhance one of the most importance events in their calendar – the Shop Direct annual sales conference. The conference is held in September and builds up to what is known as the ‘Golden Quarter’ in retail; the Christmas sales period. Employee engagement is at the heart of the Shop Direct conference and enhancing and extending the life of the event for delegates is of huge importance to them.
Creating the extraordinary
The challenge for us is always to find innovative ways to engage with delegates enhance the overall user experience pre, post and during the event. Top of the agenda for us was to ensure the app and event experience continued beyond the conference day itself and therefore we re-engineered HGA’s Event App, taking it from a purely HTML5 web app, to an alternative, downloadable mobile app for Apple and Android devices.
By choosing this route, we were able to provide better and more improved functionality from our app to over 98% of users; providing a platform for live polling, surveys and peer-to-peer messaging.
Delegates were also able to view their agenda and interact with sessions throughout the day.
The Shop Direct app attracted a total of 18,452 visits with over 30, 000 hits on the conference day itself; resulting in excess of 99% attendee engagement.
Our post-event engagement report gave us further insight into delegate engagement, revealing a total of 9,249 status updates, of which 3,704 included a photo attachment. Interactivity and social discussion at the conference was huge too with over 3,000 comments and 3200 survey responses submitted.
Overall a fantastic result, harnessing innovative digital technology to raise the bar of the overall delegate experience.
