Wellingborough Homes is a community based housing association with around 4,500 homes and over 100 employees. It is the largest local landlord, responsible for over 80% of the social housing stock in the Wellingborough area. HGA Creative won a 2 year contract that started last summer, to produce all of Wellingborough Homes’ tenant engagement communications and design.
One element of the contract is the design and production of the Annual tenant’s report, and the brief we received was to produce a report that tenants would identify with and that would communicate the necessary information in an eye catching and informative way.
To make the report more relevant to the tenants we formatted the content in sections – one for each of the five areas of Wellingborough and this allowed residents to find out about the things which most affected them.
We wanted tenants and their communities to be the focus of the entire document; and one of the ways in which we achieved this was by commissioning three days of photography that featured residents in their homes. For maximum impact these were used full bleed, filling the pages of the report.
The mandatory financial section – which has the potential to be a challenging part of the report for many readers - was brought to life by using colourful infographics and icons to illustrate key pieces of information.
The finished report was received well by both Wellingborough Homes and its tenants and other stakeholders. Feedback from the tenants was universally positive, with comments made about liking the focus on individual areas, photography and much easier to digest financial information.
