Alternative entertainment ideas for corporate events

No matter what the event – impressing guests with vibrant entertainment is always a must!

From strategy conferences to staff award celebrations, one thing delegates always take-away from corporate events are the memorable fun factors, the little touches and the brand new experiences.

There are the obvious choices to consider: for starters, big live music performances will always fill a dance floor. A big-name celebrity or comedian can wow the crowds and give them something to tweet about. These days it’s easier than ever to have fun, flashy VR or AR technology to immerse guests into a theme.

But these solutions are often very costly – and not the only answers out there. If you are looking to sprinkle a little magic on a conference or gala dinner – check out our list of alternative entertainment ideas. We’re offering practical examples from recent events we have delivered. It’s time to get imaginative!

Roving musicians

The Wandering Hands work their way through the crowd at a drinks reception for Travelodge

Live music isn’t just for the end of the night – we love to incorporate little musical interludes throughout an event, from a string quartet over dinner to a banging DJ set as the drinks flow.

For Travelodge, we installed roving acoustic trio The Wandering Hands into the drinks reception to warm up the crowd and build a fun and vibrant atmosphere ahead of the big evening dinner and awards ceremony.

Live illustrators

Evo North Conference

The mind-blowing talent of a live artist on-site always impresses delegates. This can be great way to embellish an evening ceremony with fun caricatures but it works even better at a big conference or exhibition. Live illustrators can create a visual canvas of all the big ideas, thoughts and themes from the day’s sessions and discussions. It allows delegates to see the bigger picture overview and gives the business a takeaway to remember.

Cocktail-making app

We’ve had lots of fun creating our newest digital game – a cocktail-making app! Shaking things up at gala dinners and award ceremonies, guests can create their own alcoholic concoctions, choosing from ingredients and garnishes using our app. Table by table, they each get to taste the results and vote for the best one! To add this game to your next event call 0161 776 7062 for a quote.

Theatrical performers

The Greatest Showman trend in corporate events has been pretty all-consuming in recent years, but there are clever and more subtle ways to incorporate acrobats or illusionists at your event. We find the key is to tie into the existing theme rather than shoe-horn one in for the sake of entertainment.

The Beating Hearts Ball, British Heart Foundation

Last year at The Beating Hearts Ball for The British Heart Foundation and had some stunning ariel acrobatics which worked fantastically with the deep, dramatic ceilings of the stunning Guildhall in London. The grandeur of the venue and the beautiful work of the performers created a brilliant atmosphere and spectacle during the evening ceremony.

NHBC Star Awards

For the NHBC staff awards, we created a futuristic theme and a metallic colour palette throughout. A live illusionist working added fantastic drama to this theme and worked brilliantly by immersing amongst the guests for up close and interactive entertainment.

MindWave game

MindWave captivates audiences at The FIFA eWorld Cup at London’s O2 arena

Our interactive MindWave game offers a fascinating battle of brainpower that is guaranteed to entertain delegates at any event! Players wear a headset that measures brain waves, and by focusing on an item in front of them they can move it to score goals. Lose concentration and lose out!

We’ve used this exclusive technology with a real mix of clients – customising every element from the unit, the TV content and even the item. For FIFA we used a football, for Superdry a little shopping bag! Call Chris to find out more about MindWave on 0161 776 7062.
