Closing date: 28 February 2020
HGA is a well-established integrated communications agency, founded on our award-winning live events operation. Now in our 31st year, we count many of the UK’s best-known brands as clients and we are winning new clients faster than ever before. Our events range from conferences, awards presentations and gala dinners to team building and brand activations. All our events are backed up by in-house AV, event technology, venue sourcing, video production and creative services all from under the same roof.
We have experienced a period of unprecedented growth from both existing and new clients and as such have an exciting opportunity for an Events Technician to join our busy team. We believe that the candidate we are looking for will either be a recent graduate from an AV Production or similar degree course or an experienced Events Tech with 2-3 years practical experience; however, we encourage any candidate who believes they are the best person for the role to apply.
The role will be split between our Preston and Manchester offices but will inevitably require much of your time to be spent onsite at our wide range of events that are delivered across the UK and occasionally further afield. Ideally you will have a high level of competence in the rigging and operation of a range of standard events production equipment such as audio, lighting, video and data. If you have a love of and practical experience of set building this would be a significant advantage.
The role is client-facing and so the ability to communicate clearly is necessary as is the culture that everyone at HGA shares of doing whatever it takes to exceed our clients’ demands. Whilst in the early days you will be operating under the guidance and supervision of a more senior and experienced technician we encourage all our people to fulfil their potential and we would expect you to take increased responsibility and be able to operate independently as soon as possible. At this point you would be the face of HGA onsite and will become a key account point of contact for some of our long-standing accounts.
The role will see you working to support our facilities manager to prepare and receive AV equipment at the Preston facility. You will spend a small amount of your time working from our Irlam (Manchester) head offices which is where our events production and other creative teams are based.
HGA has a proven track record of developing its people to meet their full potential; for example, our Managing Director joined the business as a graduate and now leads the entire business. There will be significant opportunity for personal development within this role much of which will be gained working alongside our team of technical projects managers as well as the wider HGA team.
Please note that it is highly unlikely that anyone without a full driving licence would be able to fulfil the demands of this role and as with any job within the events industry, there is a requirement to work outside of the standard office hours when necessary.
You will report to a senior member of our Technical Events Delivery team on a day to day basis and will be supported to contribute to our pitches, create technical drawings and work on the commercial aspects of the role such as the preparation of quotations for the technical elements of our events.
In return we offer you a career within an award-winning team that truly values and invests in all its staff and looks for ways to promote from within. You will be working on high-profile, fulfilling and exciting projects from the day you join us. You will benefit from a competitive remuneration package that includes sector leading salary and bonus, flexible working hours, a comprehensive range of other benefits including pensions, private health and insurance all delivered from vibrant offices with in-house resources and award-winning services.
