There’s no escaping the ‘back to school’ vibes this week. The traffic is building up, people are returning from holidays abroad and our clients are turning their attention towards the busy conference and awards season that Autumn always brings. At HGA, our heads are still reeling from our best summer on record! And we’re not just talking about the lovely warm weather we’ve had. We’ve won new client after new client this summer with a range of really diverse and exciting new projects to sink our teeth into – from live events and brand activations to videos and digital.
When a brief comes in, whether it’s for a brand new client or someone we’ve had a relationship with for decades, we pour everything we’ve got into our proposals. So when we are successful in winning new work we like to celebrate our team effort! It’s become a bit of a running joke that our sales team will blow a fog horn to mark a new win and recently the walls of our building have been rattling every week!
From a video campaign for a British bus manufacturer to a team building day for a major energy supplier – we’ve picked up a host of new clients this summer that cover every service in our offering. One even commented: “You were by far the best production company we saw and your ideas were fantastic!”. This was music to our ears as we really work hard to live our mantra of ‘Challenging the Ordinary’ and deliver creative ideas, cost-effective solutions and to go above and beyond in our service.
Events wise we’re really excited to get stuck in with a fun-themed charity ball for a massive national health charity and an awards dinner for the Greater Manchester Sports Awards – fusing our talents with brand new teams and companies we haven’t worked with before. Add to this some juicy new projects for our existing clients and we’ve got so much to look forward to!
This summer of success started back in July when our Video Production team flew across the world to undertake one of our most ambitious video projects yet for one of the world’s largest global mining companies. We were ecstatic to win this brief and with a very quick turn around we flew out our team out to Santiago, Chile and Johannesburg, South Africa for a whirlwind shoot.
Our Photographers, Producers and Film Crews were thrown in at the deep end, shooting on the ground, venturing deep below the earth into the mines and flying high in the sky to shoot some incredible drone footage. As well as experiencing some stunning international locations, this shoot enabled us to use some fantastic state-of-the-art equipment (think Planet Earth quality!) and to really flex our muscles on stylish video production. It was a great way to capture the amazing work this business does and how technology is transforming the way they work.
Two Big Award Wins
Hot off the back of this, we were delighted to receive two nods at the 2018 Conference Awards! HGA were awarded Bronze for Best Event Operations Team and Silver for Best Conference for our work with the wonderful Hyde Group. Last year we delivered a large-scale strategy conference that coincided with their 50th Birthday celebrations and we were delighted that our creative, innovative and cost-effective solutions were recognised by the Conference Awards judges. Two Big Promotions
Another cause for celebration this summer were two big promotions for some of our homegrown talents. After a record-breaking year of growth in the digital department, in June our dynamic Head of Digital Ian Austin became Digital Director and joined the Board of Directors at HGA as Deputy MD. In August our Graphic Designer and resident 3D expert Elliot Garner was named Senior Designer to mark his incredible contributions to our business. We are passionate about developing our talent here at HGA and already we are seeing the impact of these new positions.
September and Beyond
We’re now entering the Autumn feeling full of energy and with a busy roster of exciting events and projects to crack on with. In fact, we’ve already hit the ground running with our events, technical and digital team out in Dublin all week to deliver an epic three-day conference for a British retail giant. This event incorporates strategic communications, staff engagement and interactive with some clever technology – all the things we love!
