Getting to know Dan...
What’s your favourite film?
Back to the Future – classic! Growing up in the eighties, there is a raft of close seconds – Ghostbusters, The Karate Kid, Indiana Jones, Star Wars, The Goonies, Planes, Trains and Automobiles – my list of ‘go-to’ classics is endless!
What’s your favourite book?
My big thing at the minute is Audible! It's a great way to 'read' books and a brilliant way to pass a car journey. I'm big into business and learning books. Personal favourites over the last year are, 'Way of the Wolf' - Jordan Belfort's unique take on the sales process. 'First Man In' - Ant Middleton's views on leadership. 'Legacy'- the story of the All Blacks and their leadership/culture model. Finally the classic, 'Start with Why' by Simon Sinek - how to find your true purpose, your 'why'.
What telly are you addicted to?
Being a new Dad I've been introduced to a world of Hey Duggee and Gigglebiz and so when we do manage to get hold of the remote I'm not sure what we'd do without Netflix! Suits is one of my all time favourite shows ever. Though nothing beats 24 to my number 1 spot! More recent faves have been, You - creepy but brilliant, Dirty John - OMG how was that real? Good Girls - brilliant characters and storyline. Lucifer - season 4 was back on form and White Gold - just brilliantly funny. In terms of upcoming shows... I can't wait for Stranger Things Season 3 in July...
Where would you most like to be right now?
Driving down California’s Highway 1 with the roof down in the sun – the most stunning scenery in the world.
Where’s the best place you’ve travelled to?
The West Coast of America – would move there tomorrow.
What would be your specialist subject on Mastermind?
The Screwfix catalogue! Having just recently finished renovating a house, the time and money I have spent in Screwfix means I know every page of that book back to front!
What’s your favourite sport to watch or play?
Football. It has to be, though my playing days are long since over!
What’s the best soundtrack to a long car journey?
It would have to be a megamix of singalong eighties power ballads!
What’s the best thing about Manchester?
United! I was born in the city and love everything about it - the food, the music, the culture. I love the fact you are close to everything – big city, countryside, you name it – Manchester is the gateway to the UK!
Tell us about your pet
Having a wonderful 2 year old son and another baby on the way means I don’t have time for much, so right now I am pet-less. I get my fix through my role as a trustee for the charity Support Adoption For Pets though – lots of pets to meet and greet!
Sunday brunch or Sunday roast?
Roast! Pork if there’s a choice!
Finish this sentence - ‘I can usually be spotted in the office…
…clutching a huge mug of tea.’
