Getting to know Steve...
What’s your favourite film?
Not sure I could choose just one as there are a few up there in my favourite list, most of which are pure cheese, including Point Break (the original of course), Gone in 60 Seconds, Skyfall, Iron Man, The Martian, Creed and some 80’s classics like Back to the Future, Rocky (all of them) and Home Alone.
What telly are you addicted to?
There’s a quite a bit to choose from. Billions is back, which never fails to be a great watch! I’m also into Designated Survivor, and Walking Dead is on point as always!
Where’s the best place you’ve travelled to?
I’ve been to a number of really cool places, but Vegas is still number one for me. It’s just ridiculous, there’s nowhere else like it in the world.
What’s your favourite sport to watch or play?
Football to watch, golf to play. It used to be football to both watch and play, but my knees disagree with me nowadays. Give me a good game of golf on a hot day and I’m happy. My annual golfing trip abroad with mates is definitely the highlight in my calendar.
Tell us about your pet.
I have a staffy named Jake, and as most staffy owners know they are all a little bit nuts. He has the funniest mannerisms and does some really stupid things, many of which result in expensive vet’s bills. He is the clumsiest animal on the planet, forever falling over or walking in to things, and he’s scared of literally everything, so isn’t much of a guard dog.
Sunday brunch or Sunday roast?
Roast every time! As most people in the office can probably vouch for - I love a roast, albeit they are normally microwaveable ones from Tesco for lunch. Nothing like a real homemade Sunday roast though.
Which bit of event tech are you most excited by?
ARKit is simply awesome, there’s so much you can do with it, the possibilities are literally endless! Add a catwalk to your table, put a real stormtrooper on stage, or have spaceships flying around your head, your imagination is the only limit. Google it if you’re not aware of the technology, you’ll be amazed!
What question to you get asked most often in your job?
Do you actually use crayons…? I don’t, just in case anyone was wondering, although I do keep trying to find an excuse!
Who is the funniest person at HGA?
Reece Farmer gets my vote. His relentless mum jokes and quick comebacks have the room in stitches. His stories need some work though, whatever you do don’t ask him to tell the story about the trolley, it’s 5 minutes of your life you’ll never get back.
What’s the best thing about working in design?
The best thing has to has to be the fact that I can constantly use my imagination. We are always striving to surprise the client with something they have never seen before.
Finish this sentence - ‘I can usually be spotted in the office…
…sniffing out treats. The studio is renowned for having a good selection of sweets. We tell people we have them to keep us energised through busy periods, but the reality is we are all just really greedy.
